The renowned twentieth century American playwright, Tennessee Williams, most famously known for A Streetcar Named Desire, Night of the Iguana, Camino Real and Glass Menagerie; also produced screenplays, memoir, fiction, short stories and, of course, short plays. He wrote over seventy! They include portraits of prostitutes, salesmen, farmers and the social elite. Williams weaves tales of tortured parental relationships and unrequited love, surrealist dreams and slum life. A luminary artistic voice, Williams earned four Drama Critic Circle Awards, two Pulitzer Prizes and the Presidential Medal of Freedom for his contribution to the literary canon.
