Bio

Brittany K. Allen is a Brooklyn-based performer and writer. Recent credits include True Right (ANTFEST @ Ars Nova, New Ohio), Minor Character (Invisible Dog), The Place We Built (The Flea), and Tartuffe (Paradise Factory/Two-Headed Rep). Brittany is a member of Youngblood, the Obie award-winning young playwrights collective at Ensemble Studio Theatre, an alum of the Emerging Writers Group at The Public Theater, and a 2017 Van Lier New Voices fellow at the Lark.

Her play Redwood (2017 and 2020 Kilroys List) received its world premiere at Portland Center Stage in 2019 and will appear in upcoming seasons at the Jungle Theater and Ensemble Studio Theatre.. Allen is the recipient of a Jody Falco and Jeffrey Steinman Commission for Emerging Playwrights, and Playing on Air’s own James Stevenson Commission for Short Comedic Plays. In 2021, she won the Dramatists Guild Foundation’s Georgia Engel Comedy Playwriting Prize, which is given annually to a female-identifying playwright honoring that artist's work in comedy.
