Bio
Brody brings nearly twenty years of experience as a director and developer of new plays to Playing on Air. His directing work includes the world premieres of Where the Mountain Meets the Sea (Manhattan Theatre Club and Actors Theatre of Louisville); King of the Yees (Goodman Theatre, Center Theater Group, and San Francisco Playhouse); The Last Tiger in Haiti (La Jolla Playhouse and Berkeley Rep); Fourteen Flights (Award for Excellence in Directing, NY Fringe). He has developed work all over the country including at Colorado New Play Summit, New Dramatists, New York Theatre Workshop, Ojai Playwrights Conference, The O’Neill, Playwrights Horizons, Perry-Mansfield, and SPACE on Ryder Farm.
Josh is a Princess Grace Award winner and received his MFA from UC - San Diego and his BA from Yale University. Before he did any of those things, Josh was born in New Jersey and grew up in London where he had a brief but mostly unembarrassing career as a child actor. After graduate school, while living in San Diego, Josh was an adjunct professor in the UC - San Diego Department of Theatre & Dance and was the co-founder and co-artistic director of THE TRIP, whose final full production, fittingly titled This Might Be The End, premiered in NYC in 2018. With THE TRIP, Josh once directed a site-specific evening of short plays in a tattoo shop during each performance of which an audience member was (willingly!) tattooed. A dual citizen of the United States and the United Kingdom and a proud member of SDC, Josh lives in Brooklyn with his wife, dramaturg Sarah Lunnie, their three children, and their dog.
