He has been a part of over 50 films, earning Academy Award nominations for The World According to Garp and Terms of Endearment. For his work on television, he has been nominated for 12 Emmy Awards and won six, most notably for “The Crown,” “Dexter,” and “3rd Rock From the Sun.” Such variety has won him a place in the Theater Hall of Fame, a star on The Hollywood Walk of Fame, and membership in the American Academy of Arts & Sciences. Lithgow’s upcoming film projects include Late Night with Emma Thompson, The Tomorrow Man with Blythe Danner, Stephen King’s Pet Semetary, and the role of Roger Ailes in an as-yet-untitled Jay Roach film about Ailes’ fall from grace at Fox News.
