Jay O. Sanders
Jay O. Sanders has played many of the great roles in Shakespeare, most recently Kent opposite John Lithgow’s Lear and his Award-nominated Titus Andronicus, both for the Public Theater in New York. He has also spent much of his career developing new American plays, including Richard Nelson’s recent 4-play Apple Family series over the last four years, which were subsequently filmed for WNET. His long list of feature films include The Day After Tomorrow, Half Nelson, JFK,Revolutionary Road, Edge of Darkness, Tumbleweeds, Glory, and Angels in the Outfield. On television, he most recently appeared as a recurring character on Person of Interest and as television evangelist Billy Lee Tuttle on HBO’s cult hit True Detective and can been heard narrating a long list of PBS documentaries. As a playwright, his play Unexplored Interior, set in and around the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi of Rwanda, was recently the center of a historic Google+ Hangout on Air, marking the 20-year Commemoration, betweenthe Museum of Jewish Heritage in Battery Park in NYC and the Kigali Genocide Memorial in Rwanda, and watched online by people across the world.
