Bio

Daniel Reitz’s plays include Studies For A Portrait (London: King’s Head Theatre, Oval House Theatre, White Bear Theatre); TurnaboutSelf-Portrait in a Blue RoomAfterclapFall ForwardRules of the Universe and Three Sisters. His plays have been developed and produced at theatres including Ensemble Studio Theatre, HB Studios, Manhattan Class Company, Mark Taper Forum, Naked Angels, New York Stage and Film, Playwrights Horizons, Primary Stages, and the Public Theatre. His screenplays include Urbania, which he adapted from his play Urban Folk Tales, and which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival prior to its release by Lionsgate Films. He has also written and directed numerous short films that have screened in film festivals in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia. He has received a New York Foundation for the Arts fellowship, a New York Innovative Theatre Award, a Drama-Logue Award, and a Lippman “New Frontiers” Award, and commissions from Baltimore Centerstage, the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, and the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council. His plays have been published by New York Theatre Experience, Playscripts, Inc., Smith & Kraus, and United Stages. He is a lifetime member of Ensemble Studio Theatre, a member of Rising Phoenix Repertory, and an alumna of New Dramatists.
