Bio
Arnie Burton created the role of Man #2 in the original Broadway production of The 39 Steps that ran for 3 years, with Arnie playing the role for over 700 performances. He also created the role of Mrs. Bumbrake and others in the hit Broadway play Peter and the Starcatcher. Other Broadway shows include the critically acclaimed Machinal, A Free Man of Color, and Amadeus. Off Broadway he was recently seen in the world premier of The Lives of the Saints by David Ives, also Tail! Spin!, The Temperamentals (Drama Desk award, ensemble) 30th anniversary production of The Mystery of Irma Vep (Drama League nom.) The Explorers’ Club at MTC, The Merchant of Venice/The Jews of Malta in NY and at the Royal Shakespeare Company in England. Also Mere Mortals by David Ives, The Last Sunday in June, The Venetian Twins. Other New York appearances include shows at Primary Stages, New York Theatre Workshop, TFANA, Rattlestick, E.S.T. and Circle Rep. Mr Burton’s regional work includes the Los Angeles premiere of All In The Timing (Geffen Playhouse), The Seagull, The Taming of the Shrew and The Santaland Diaries (Old Globe), I Am My Own Wife (Kevin Kline Award and Helen Hayes nom) in St Louis and Washington, DC. Other theater critics include shows at Berkeley Repertory Theatre, American Repertory Theatre, Alley Theatre, Berkshire Theatre Festival, Philadelphia Theatre Co. and The Actors Theatre of Louisville. Mr Burton’s television credits include guest appearances on “Frasier,” “White Collar,” “Blue Bloods,” “Law & Order,” “Law & Order: CI,” “Caroline in the City,” “Sister, Sister,” “Hope & Faith,” “Life on Mars,” “6 Degrees” and a recurring role on the upcoming series “Flesh and Bone.” Films include Igby Goes Down, The Invention of Lying, The Private Lives of Pippa Lee and Game 6.
