Three short plays about love and marriage – though not always at the same time. A couple celebrates their 24th anniversary, bruises and all. A morning person and a night owl make for a mixed marriage. And one mother will stop at nothing to get her gay son to the altar.
First is 24 Years by Leslie Ayvazian, with Jessica Hecht (“Breaking Bad”) and Dominic Fumusa (“Nurse Jackie”), directed by Peter Hedges (What’s Eating Gilbert Grape?). Next is Breakfast at the Track by Lanford Wilson, with Jeanine Serralles (Inside Llewyn Davis) and Lorenzo Pisoni, directed by Caitriona McLaughlin. Last is My Husband by Paul Rudnick (Jeffrey, New Yorker’s “Shouts and Murmurs”), with Harriet Harris (“Frasier,” “Desperate Housewives,” Tony winner for Thoroughly Modern Millie) and Michael Urie (“Ugly Betty”), directed by Claudia Weill (HBO’s “Girls”). Conversation with cast, director and playwright follow each play, moderated by Playing on Air’s Artistic Producer, Claudia Catania. Recorded live at BRIC Arts Media House in downtown Brooklyn, fall 2014. Anniversary is generously sponsored by the Geraldine Stutz Trust.
