Craig Lucas

Craig Lucas is the author of the plays Missing Persons, RecklesCraig Lucass, Blue Window, Prelude to a Kiss, God’s Heart, The Dying Gaul, Stranger, Small Tragedy, The Singing Forest, Prayer for My Enemy and The Lying Lesson. Screenplays include Blue Window, Longtime Companion, Prelude to a Kiss, Reckless, The Secret Lives of Dentists and The Dying Gaul (which he also directed, starring Peter Sarsgaard, Patricia Clarkson and Campbell Scott)). Lucas has written the musicals Three Postcards(music and lyrics by Craig Carnelia) and The Light in the Piazza (music and lyrics by Adam Guettel) He wrote texts for the operas Orpheus in Love (composer Gerald Busby) and Two Boys (composer Nico Muhly), which premiered at the English National Opera and premieres at the Metropolitan Opera in December 2013. Lucas directed the world premiere ofThe Light in the Piazza starring Victoria Clarke, the film Birds of America (with Hillary Swank, Matthew Perry, Ben Foster, Lauren Graham and Ginnifer Foster), the play This Thing of Darkness (by Lucas and David Schulner) and Harry Kondoleon’s plays Saved or Destroyed and Play Yourself.
